BUSINESS ACTIVITIES AND STRUCTURE

Turbomeca is a subsidiary of SAFRAN group. Its activity is mainly oriented towards developing, producing and supporting helicopter engines. The company also designs and produces jet engines, turbofan-engines.

Turbomeca's aim is to maintain and to improve its leadership in the world of design and manufacture of small and medium range gas turbine engines for helicopter.
 
Today, Turbomeca employs about 6000 people worldwide and 2007 turnover is 994 millions of Euros 11 % of which is invested in R&D. The continuous investment in R&D allows Turbomeca to be a key manufacturer for helicopter engines.

 

EU project experience :
Turbomeca has already participated in many IP such as VIVACE, FRIENDCOPTER, and now NEWAC and STREPS such as SILENCER, HORTIA, TIMECOP, LOCOPOTEP …

 

TURBOMECA AND DREAM

Turbomeca is SP5 leader. In DREAM, our involvement is dedicated to alternative fuels evaluation :

  •  first we are going to select the most promising existing alternative fuels (likely to be an XTL type).
  • then, we are carrying out a fuel evaluation of impact of alternative fuels through paper studies, fuels systems and combustion tests.
  • Finally we are running an endurance test that will demonstrate that alternative fuels can be used in modern turboshaft engines (TRL6)
Reduction of the emissions (CO2, NOx, CO, HCs, soots …) will be measured.
 
DREAM will demonstrate that TURBOMECA is a key manufacturer for green engines.
