Berlin Institute of Technology (TUB) is one of the largest german technical universities, 27,000 students.

TUB predecessor was founded in 1799, 7 Faculties of offer 50 courses engineering and natural sciences, economics and business, planning sciences, humanities and the social sciences, involved in several hundred different projects funded by the EC.

Prof. Liebich’s Department for “Engineering Design and Product Reliability” has long term experiences in the fields of general machine design, drive systems and propulsion technology, strength, fatigue, balancing, rotor dynamics, machine diagnosis, vibration reduction and damping technologies, engine failure case simulation, whole engine mechanics, elastomer dampers.

FW 6 experiences regarding aero engine technology: VITAL and VIVACE

  • Focus within DREAM will be the research and design work in workpackage 4.2 Cold Structures of sub-project SP4 Innovative Systems.
  • The group will develop a cheap and qualified elastomer ring design for aero engine rotor damping within a vibration and noise challenging environment of new open rotor concepts. The key personnel have previously worked on general studies regarding elastomer dampers for rotors and have strong skills in aero engines.
  • Idea has been developed during Prof. Liebich’s research work at Rolls-Royce Deutschland.
  • We will offer our knowledge regarding vibration reduction, whole engine mechanics, modeling and simulation.
  • We will develop our experience with large european projects and benefit from the technology and intercultural exchange within DREAM.
