Scientific interests:

Design and operational aspects of power machinery:

CFD application for turbomachinery flows
  • experimental investigation of the unsteady flows (e.g. 3D-LDA)
  • life and risk assessment of turbine components
  • turbine operation control and design aspects of turbine components

Power plant boilers – research and modernisation
  • low emission combustion

CFD modelling of the combustion processes
  • erosion and corrosion processes
  • fuel preparation and biomass co-combustion

Design and modification of pumps, hydraulic turbines and hydraulic installations
Modern power generation technologies
In those areas many research projects as well as cooperation with industry are performed

In Dream the Institute of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery will provide:

  • CFD modelling
  • understanding of flow in turbine drum cavities
  • characterization of drum heat transfer
  • investigate the fluid dynamics problems conjugated with the heat transfer
  • formulate design rules in the turbine module development
  • cooperation in sealing design process
We offer:
  • Experience, methods and tools for the
  • modelling of flow and thermal phenomena in turbomachinery

We expect:

  • Knowledge gain in the modelling of rotating cavities
  • Transfer of knowledge in turbomachinery components design
  • Additional experience in international cooperation in aeronautic industry
  • Educational utilization of research results
