WP5.1 - Aircraft and engine impact
2 alternative drop-in fuels have been selected: a 50% GTL - 50% Jet A1 blend provided by Shell and a 50% HVO - 50% Jet A1 blend made of camelina oil provided by UOP.
The impact of using these fuels was evaluated both on aero-engine fuel systems and on aircraft fuel systems.
Tests needed to validate th use of the 2 selected alternative fuels (covered in WP5.2 Component tests and WP5.3 engine demonstration):
- Ageing tests on usual elastomers with both fuels to evaluate elastomers compatibility,
- Fuels system components tests: component characrerisation, ageing tests, self-suction capabilities,
- Engine endurance test.
