Research fields: composite materials synthesis and characterization, thermal stability of materials

DIASP shares with DIMEC the High Quality Laboratory AERMEC (Aeromechanical
Structural Systems).

Politecnico di Torino is involved in WP 3.3. POLITO will contribute to the DREAM project after a long collaboration with AVIO Group, with the following skills:

  • DIMEC group: Theoretical and experimental investigation of the non-linear dynamics of the blade under compression. Skills after 10 years of collaboration with AVIO: experimental characterization of engine components by means of ad hoc test rigs, development of numerical models and software for turbine blade design
  • DIASP group: Design, development, set-up and calibration of airgun facilities. Ballistic tests of unstressed and pre-stressed plates. Skills after 12 years of collaboration with AVIO: experimental and numerical characterisation of materials for containment cases.
  • DISMIC group: Synthesis of ceramic and metal matrix composites materials. Mechanical, structural and chemical characterization of thin films and bulk materials. Protective coatings deposition and ageing treatment evaluation in oxidized atmosphere.
