ITP was established in 1989, its business activity ranges from aero-engines overhaul and assembly, to the research, design, development and manufacture elements of gas turbines for civil and military aircraft applications, as well as for other industrial areas as power generation.

ITP has around 1500 members of staff with more than 300 engineers working in the two industrial plants (Madrid and Bilbao) and the technical office in Madrid.

ITP develops and manufactures gas turbine component in Spain, being the Low Pressure Turbines one of the products of excellence of the company. All the stages of the development of the product are covered inside ITP, from conceptual studies to the final product, customer support and maintenance and overhaul. Investigation areas are focused in Low Pressure Turbines and hot structures technologies; aerodynamics, aeroacustics, mechanical, materials and manufacturing technologies.

European Programs (FP5 &FP6) participation:
ANTLE, SILENCER, VIVACE, VITAL.
ICAS-GT, OPTISPRAY, TATEFF2, AIDA, COJEN, TATMO, MAGPI…

In FP7 ITP will participate in CleanSky, DREAM, ACCENT, FUTURE, ELUBSYS, OPENAIR & ERICKA and participates in future proposals for future calls.

In DREAM ITP will participate in the design and optimisation of a high Mach number Low Pressure turbine and a hot structure for the geared open rotor configuration:
  • Conceptual studies will be performed to identify optimum configuration.
  • Low weight and efficiency recovery technologies studied.
  • Rig aerodynamic test will be carried out to validate efficiency recovery measures.
  • Preliminary design for the most critical components will be carried out.
  • Manufacturing options and new processes development will be identified.
ITP would like to:
  • Further develop its aero-mechanical technologies for Low Pressure turbines an hot structures new concepts to be applied in the future aero-engines.
  • Further develop technologies aimed to achieve ACARE environmental goals.
  • Participate in an European collaborative programme.
